(Week 8) Feedback Adjusted Build


Hello! Reflection Team here again with another update. 

Since last week, our team has gotten a considerable amount of feedback for our game. This was in small minute adjustments to larger more critical changes in level design. Specifically, here is the feedback we got and how we attempted to fix these. Note this feedback as well as more feedback is available in this link if you're curious.

Alpha Playtest Feedback

  • Ambient Sounds
    • Added a few sound effects for the mirrors, footsteps, and other sound effects.
  • Avoid Distracting Visuals
    • Removed various objects that could be too eye-catching (especially on bookshelves).
  • The Code in Section 1 Is Not Reflected Properly
    • Fixed.

GDDC Playtest Feedback

  • Can Get Physically Stuck in First Puzzle
    • Fixed so that the space that that happens in is removed.
  • The eye symbol shows up for objects that aren’t interactable at the moment
    • Removed the interact symbols for non-interactable objects.
  • Need a voice line/indicator to show that Millie travels back in time
    • Added a voice line to do such.
  • Need lines to say something about it being too dark so that no interactions can be done 
    • Added.
  • Needs to be easier to see the handkerchief
    • Made it more obvious
  • Hard to see the drawer
    • Stuck it out more.
  • Did not figure out the mirror above the fireplace until told about it - 
    • Made that mirror activate at a point in the gameplay that would make it more noticeable.

Ubisoft Feedback

  • Only one of the nightstands is interactable
    • Fixed for consistency
  • Fireplace Mirror should have some hint if it’s interacted with before the music box is interacted with
    • Added a voice line to indicate such.
  • Fireplace mirror too close to the music box
    • Fixed.
  • Cannot see writing in section 1 note
    • Added the system for that (but the text itself is unimplemented)
  • The safe is broken in the past
    • Fixed. Locked it so the player doesn't interact with it
  • Dress forms kinda hard to understand
    • Added voice line

Office Hours Feedback

First Puzzle in Mom’s Closet is not as strong as the other ones. There were 3 problems with it.

  • Scissors were hard to notice
    • They have been moved to a better location with a better puzzle
  • The tiles are not a focus of the game. 
    • The tiles have been reduced greatly.
  • There was too much in the room at once. 
    • The room has been cleared out by replacing the puzzle and adjusting the obstacle positions.
